James Lewis, bridge supervisor, met with the commission and stated his crew will be working in Monroe Township re-decking a bridge this week. They will also be working on replacing tubes in Colfax Township.
Bills and abatements were approved.
Ronetta Burton, county clerk, updated the commission on the ongoing phone upgrade project. Windstream has assigned a project manager so she is hoping they will install their connections soon. The commission also discussed how the phone project would impact their disaster recovery and security concerns with the courthouse IT infrastructure. Ronetta will contact Tony Figg, Green Hills Communications, and see if he can come in and speak to the commission.
The commission was informed by Lance Rains, Green Hills Regional Planning Commission (GHRPC), that there would possibly be some SDBG grant money available later this year to replace bridges. The application process will be in the fall.
The commission continues to work on updating the county personnel manual. The issue was continued to next week.
Sally Black, assessor, met with the commission regarding some exempt properties in Daviess County.
Ronetta Burton notified the commission that her office and the sheriff’s office would be hosting a retirement reception for Randy and Tracy Sims at 2 p.m. on June 27 in the courthouse lobby. Everyone is invited to stop by and enjoy refreshments with them.
The commissioners looked at roads, bridges and culverts in Jamesport and Union Townships in the afternoon.
