Local athletes compete in Lions basketball event

Jett Simmons and Courtney Shubert, recent Gallatin R-5 High School graduates, participated on winning teams over the weekend in the Lions All-Star Basketball Classic held on the North Central Missouri College campus in Trenton.

Simmons was a member of the “Purple” team that defeated the White team, 100-92, for the championship. Shubert played on the Gold team, which won the girls’ title, 74-46, over the Black team.

Also participating in the two-day event were Megan Cottrell and Cornelius Peery of Gilman City, and Lance Cook, Tri-County.
