Stephen K. Showalter, 57, formerly of South Carolina, died May 25 at his sister’s home in St. Joseph.
Stephen was born in Detroit, MI, one of six children of Ralph W. and Diane (Raiser) Showalter. Stephen graduated from Cameron High School, and later Missouri Western State College, with a degree in construction management. He worked as a project engineer/construction manager in many areas of the world.
Major Stephen Showalter served as a ranger with the US Army 101st Airborne, and later served in the Army Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Showalter; and brother, Mark Showalter.
Survivors include his two sons, Stephen Kent Showalter, II, Conrad, TX, and Kurt A. (Samantha) Showalter, Des Moines, IA; mother, Diane E. Reaxure, Kansas City; sisters, Becky Draper-Stuck and her husband James, St. Joseph and Carolyn Hills, Independence; brothers, David (Karen) Showalter, Richmond, TX, and Philip (Lisa) Showalter, Jamesport.
Funeral services for Stephen Showalter were held May 29 at River of Hope Fellowship, Mound City. Interment with military honors was at Tharp Cemetery, Craig. Memorials may be directed to Tharp Cemetery, in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.chamberlainfuneral.com.
