Circuit Court
James Templeton of Jamesport, who had been scheduled for a jury trial May 29-June 1, plead guilty to amended charges of endangering welfare of a child, C felony, and sexual misconduct involving a child, D felony, on May 24 before Judge Thomas Chapman. He had originally been charged with neglect of a child and two counts of attempted statutory sodomy first degree, attempted deviant sexual intercourse with person under 14 years old. Judge Chapman ordered a sentence assessment report.
In a probation violation hearing held May 23, Judge Edward Manring continued probation for Ronald Lee Patterson on a B felony charge of possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Associate Division
Ray Thomas Williams, Davenport, IA, was charged May 28 with possession of controlled substance, D felony, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, A misdemeanor, and failure to maintain financial responsibility, D misdemeanor. Williams was involved in an injury accident on I-35. Williams and his passenger were taken for medical treatment at Cameron Regional Medical Center. During inventory of the vehicle to safeguard any valuable items prior to towing, Sgt. J. Johnson located marijuana which belonged to Williams.
Civil Court
Suits on account: Midwestern Health Management vs. Lonnie K. Terry et al was dismissed by the parties. A default judgment was entered for Midwestern Health Management, Inc. and against Loretta A. Tull.
Contact/Account: Default judgments were entered for Synchrony Bank and against Edward Miller in two separate cases; and for Capital One Bank (USA) N.A. and against Cassandra A. Parton.
Associate Civil/Other: Gary W. Wilson vs. Missouri Director of Revenue was tried by the court, with all issues found in favor of the petitioner Wilson.
County Commission
James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, stated his crew is busy hauling rip rap in Sheridan Township this week. They are also replacing bridge boards in Washington and Grand River Townships.
David Allen and Chip Winger, Sheridan Township, met with the commission regarding road issues on 175th Street.
Bills and abatements were approved.
David Cox and Wayne Uthe left at 10 a.m. to attend the Daviess County Library Board meeting. They returned at 11:30 a.m.
Ronetta Burton, county clerk, pursuant to RSMo 49.070, appointed David Cox as acting presiding commissioner until Randy Sims returns on June 3, 2018.
Wayne Uthe made a motion to notify Medova Healthcare to remove Vicki Corwin as an authorized signer, and add Ronetta Burton as an authorized signer for healthcare documents David Cox seconded; motion passed.
The commissioners continue to work on updating the personnel policy manual. The issue was continued to next week.
The commissioners reviewed a concern the county attorney had with some wording for the Windstream phone contract. Discussion was held and it was decided to leave the contract as presented.
The Commission received notification from Trager Limestone, LLC, that they will be resuming mining of limestone under APAC-Kansas, Inc. Permit #0040 in Union Township, Section 8, Township 59N, Range 27W. All landowners within one-half mile of the mine plan boundary should have also received notification.
In the afternoon, commissioners toured roads, culverts, and brush in Jamesport Township.
The commissioners dealt with a long distance phone issue created by Windstream service being down in Gallatin.
