Eva (Bennett) Gordon, 87, of Plattsburg, died May 27, 2018, at a St Joseph hospital. She is the grandmother of Kathryn Brookshier of Gallatin.
A healing farewell service for Eva Gordon will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018, at the Bailey & Cox Family Funeral Service, Plattsburg. Interment will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Plattsburg. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born on May 17, 1931, she grew up and attended school in Plattsburg. On July 12, 1952, she was united in marriage to James Ellis Junior Gordon in Bentonville, AR. She was a homemaker and was employed at Ellis Elementary School in Plattsburg as a cook.
Eva was a longtime member of the south Clinton club, Plattsburg PTA and the booster club, and a former member of the women’s international bowling conference. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Plattsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2008; infant daughter, Trella Catherine Gordon; three brothers, Melvin, J.C. and John Bennett; a half-sister, Norma Bennett; and infant great-grandson, Jacob Thomas Jake Eads.
Other survivors include four daughters, Joanne Gordon and Donna (Darrell) Kennedy both of Plattsburg, Barbara (Mike) Cantrell of Lee’s Summit, and Tracy (Jimmy) Shoate of Sugar Creek; three grandsons, Tommy (Terry) Eads and Brandon (Sarah) Kennedy, both of Plattsburg, and Justin Kennedy, Platte City; granddaughters, Shyla Smith of Lee’s Summit and Emily Bolinger of Maysville; and 17 great-grandchildren.
