Following receipt of Library Director Allison Spidle’s resignation and after guests left the May 16 public meeting, the library board of trustees convened in closed session and voted unanimously to offer the position of interim library director to Elizabeth Plotner at a rate of $17 per hour.

If Ms. Plotner declines, then the board agreed to offer the interim position to former library director Jan Johnson. According to meeting minutes, this executive session began at 6:20 p.m. and ended at 7:01 p.m.

Other business, besides the resignation of Director Spidle, was conducted during the regular public session of the May 16 meeting.

Jeremy Duckworth from QNS was present to talk about the replacement of the library’s computer server which quit last Thursday. It will cost about $4,210.93 to replace and to upgrade the server software and purchase Microsoft Server licenses.

Cloud computing is more demanding on the server and requires more robust equipment. A temporary server is in place. Billing for the new server can be delayed until 2019 with installation expected to be completed within two weeks.

The board approved April 17 meeting minutes and unanimously voted to approve payment of bills.

Summit Gas will be turning the gas off, resetting the meter, and restarting the system soon.

The $800 NASA reimbursement payment is on its way. Home Exchange Bank sent a letter about new rules under the Bank Secrecy Act, which apply to the library.

Donations include $100 from Don McWilliams in memory of his mother, a book purchase by Jan Johnson in memory of Virgil Peters, and a donation from Larry and Lana Belshe for a water faucet and backsplash. The VFW has donated a book on Vietnam.
