Four people, including a child and a teen, were injured when two all-terrain vehicles collided in Livingston County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened when Montana Akers, 15, Chillicothe, was eastbound on Livingston County Road 508. Montana was driving a 2003 Honda Rancher four-wheeler.
Orville Curtis, 61, Chillicothe, was southbound on Livingston County Road 531. He was driving a 2012 Polaris Ranger utility vehicle.
Montana made a left turn onto Livingston County Road 531 and struck Mr. Curtis’ vehicle in the rear passenger side.
Mr. Curtis’ vehicle overturned and came to rest on its driver’s side, facing west, partly in the roadway. Montana’s vehicle came to rest on Livingston County Road 531, facing east.
Montana received minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. He was not wearing a safety device.
Mr. Curtis received serious injuries and was taken by Lifeflight Eagle to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. He was not wearing a safety device.
A passenger in Mr. Curtis’ vehicle, his son, Orville Curtis, 36, Jamesport, had minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene. Another passenger, Wyatt Curtis, 4, Jamesport, son and grandson, received minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene via his parents’ decision. Neither was wearing a safety device.
The accident was investigated by Cpl. J.C. Gilliland, assisted by Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and EMS.
