Edward L. Froman Jr. was born April 28, 1948, the son of Edward Sr. and Marjorie (Williams) Froman in St. Joseph. He graduated from Gallatin High School in 1966 and attended Central Missouri State College for two years. He enlisted in the United States Army and served as a sergeant of the military police while stationed in Okinawa. Ed was discharged after two years of service and returned back to the family farm near Gallatin, where he worked side by side with his Dad.
Ed was always interested in agriculture and spent his entire life farming; their operation included cattle, hogs and row crops.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s Ed started showing American Fox Hounds and won many competitions. In 1985 his dogs won grand champion and best in show as well as best of breed. He greatly enjoyed caring and getting the dogs show ready; at the end of the day it was pure enthusiasm for his dogs and their ability to be the best they could be. He made many friends at the events he attended.
In the late 1970s Ed became a Kentucky Colonel, an honorary commission given by the State of Kentucky to individuals noted for their public service and their work for the advancement of Kentucky, an organization near and dear to his mother’s family heritage. Ed served as a board member for the Lake Viking Association for many years. He was an avid collector of coins and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. When given the opportunity, he could never pass up a blueberry muffin, one of his favorite foods. Mark and Patrick were his pride and joy and he loved spending time with them. Ed will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents.
Ed is survived by his two sons, Mark of Gallatin, and Patrick of Kansas City.
