At 9:52 p.m. on March 29, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance in locating a missing family member who might be in the Gallatin area.

Only a few minutes later, at 10:16 p.m., a deputy responded to shots fired in the Grand River bottoms and located the vehicle which belonged to the missing subject. The deputy then located the subject with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the abdomen.
At 10:19 p.m., the deputy requested an ambulance, which transported the subject to the Gallatin High School parking lot, which was used as a landing zone for the Lifeflight helicopter. The victim, who was from the Kidder area, was then transported to a Kansas City hospital.
