A Pattonsburg man was fatally injured in an accident in Winston involving two ATVs. A Hamilton man received moderate injuries, and a 10-year-old girl received minor injuries in the crash.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 6:54 p.m. on April 2, as Robert Vessar, 29, Hamilton, was driving a 2004 Yamaha Raptor east on Highway 6. Dallas Allen, 30, Pattonsburg, was also eastbound on Highway 6, driving a Polaris Sportsman. Carly Allen, 10, Pattonsburg, was a passenger on his vehicle.
At 140th Street, the city limits of Winston, Mr. Vessar slowed to make a left turn. Mr. Allen struck the rear of his vehicle. Both vehicles overturned and all occupants were ejected.
Robert Vessar and Carly Allen were wearing helmets. Dallas Allen was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced deceased by Daviess County Coroner David McWilliams at 7:35 p.m.
Carly Allen was transported by Cameron EMS to Cameron Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Mr. Vessar was transported by Daviess County EMS to Cameron Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. M.W. Neely, assisted by Sgt. G.D. Ward, Cpl. P.M. Kimball, and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
Robert Vessar was arrested at 7:32 p.m. on April 2 by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and charged with felony DWI, unlawfully operating an ATV on a highway, and no valid license. He was held at Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail on a 24-hour hold.
