Gallatin R-5 golfers open the 2018 season today in the Orrick 2-man Best Ball Tournament, which will be held at Richmond’s par 71 Shirkey Golf Course. The Bulldogs are the defending tournament champs.

The Bulldogs have finished in the top eight in Class 1 for each of the past five seasons, and have placed in the top three in each of the last three state tournaments. They enter the 2018 spring season with the goal of a third straight Class 1 state title.
Four members of last season’s fivesome at state return, Jett Simmons, Gabe Cole, Logan Burns and Haden Bradford.
The Bulldogs travel to Maysville tomorrow (Thursday), to Bethany on Monday and return to Daviess County Country Club on Wednesday to face Maysville and South Harrison.
