Does history interest you?
If your answer is yes, then come for a Missouri Civil War history program about surgeon John Cravens, sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans. They will welcome Paul Peterson as their guest speaker at 7 p.m. Monday, March 19 at the Friends in Christ church building, located at 402 N. Main in Gallatin.
Paul R. Peterson is the author of “Quantrill of Missouri,” “Quantrill in Texas,” “Quantrill at Lawrence” and “Lost Souls of the Lost Township.” Peterson is a retired U.S. Marine Corps Master Sergeant and a highly decorated infantry combat veteran of the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He is a member of the William Clarke Quantrill Society, the James-Younger Gang Association, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Jackson County and Missouri State Historical Societies.
Lanny Dixon, camp commander, is pleased to share this opportunity for everyone to learn some real Missouri Civil War History.
This program is open to anyone interested and there is no charge. After the program the guests are free to leave or are welcome to stay for the camp meeting, if they are interested.
