Assessor’s Office

The assessor’s office will close at noon March 23 and reopen at 1 p.m. March 26.

Second notices will soon be mailed to those who have not submitted assessment sheets. If you have not submitted your sheet, please do so as soon as possible.

The assessor’s office is linked to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), which allows the assessor’s office to obtain required VIN numbers, and shows the list of items that the DMV shows as still owned by each taxpayer. The assessor’s office has contacted the DMV to find out what taxpayers must do in order to get items they no longer own off of this list. According to the DMV, property owners (sellers) should keep copies of bills of sale for items sold both in and out of state, (notwithstanding the fact that the Notice of Sale or Transfer on vehicle titles says not to report sales to out-of-state purchasers). The bill of sale should be submitted to the DMV so that a copy of the bill of sale can be provided to the assessor, if needed.

If you need help or have questions, please contact the office.
