Funeral services for James Martin were held March 11 at Lake Viking Church. Burial was at Highland Cemetery, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Poland-Thompson Funeral Home for funeral expenses.

James Jim Clay Martin Jr., 67, Kearney, formerly of Hamilton and Cameron, died on March 2, 2018.

Jim was born on July 26, 1950, in Houston, Texas. He worked as a car hauler for Allied Systems for many years before retiring. Jim was a member of the Teamsters Union #41, Masonic A.F. & A.M. Vincil Lodge # 62, Polo #232, Kearney #311, and formerly of Hamilton #224, Masonic Home Representative, Scottish Rite Valley of St. Joseph, Moila Shrine, and he was on the advisory board for the Rainbow Girls.

On March 10, 1979, Jim married Shirley Rupert in Kansas City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lovie and Mel Pepperdine; daughter, Tina Marie; brother, Wayne Martin; and great-niece, Robin Boyd.

Survivors include his wife Shirley of the home; son Benjamin (Cindy Newman) Martin, grandchildren of Altamont; daughter Missy Martin, grandchildren Aryssa, Bryce and Cameron Newby of Albany; son Dan (Janelle) Martin, grandchildren Sydney, Alex Dean and Emily of Hamilton; sister Susan (Jack) Glaeser, Dubuque, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, including Ariel of Altamont; nieces and nephew.
