County Commission
David Cox moved to appoint Ronetta Burton as interim county clerk beginning on March 1, 2018, until the appointment of the governor occurs. Wayne Uthe seconded; all in favor.
James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, met with commissioners regarding road issues. Crews have been cleaning the areas around the road and bridge building. They are currently repairing and maintaining equipment.
Bills and abatements were approved.
Randy Railsback, Green Hills Regional Planning Commission, met with commissioners regarding appointments for the regional planning board, transportation board, and development board. Commissioners signed a memorandum of agreement with Green Hills Regional Planning Commission.
David Cox moved to approve Cheryl Alexander for the appointment of County Health Officer for 2018. Wayne Uthe seconded; motion carried.
The bid opening for CART gravel and pipe bids was at 10:30 a.m. In attendance were Rip Anderson, Metal Culvert; Mike Trager, Trager Limestone; Art Sumpter, Norris Quarries; and Julie Wieland, Wieland Hauling. Commissioners reviewed the bids.
Wayne Uthe moved to approve FOB bids (rock only, no delivery included) from all three bidders: Norris Quarries, $11.15 per ton; Flory’s Rock and Lime, $11 per ton; and Trager Limestone, $11 per ton.
For townships, bids were accepted at the following rates per ton, with delivery included:
Norris Quarries: Benton, $15.75; Colfax, $14.97; Grand River, $13.75; Jackson, $14.10; Jefferson, $14.71; Salem, $15.75; Union, $13.55; Jamesport Special Road District, $13.95.
Flory’s Rock & Lime: Daviess County Special Road District, $14.30; Lock Springs Special Road District, $14.30.
Trager Limestone, LLC: Harrison, $14.50; Liberty, $13.85; Lincoln, $15.65; Marion, $14.60; Monroe, $13.85; Sheridan, $14; Washington, $15.50.
The motion to approve the bids was seconded by David Cox; motion carried.
Bill Haggard, county mower operator, discussed updates on brush removal around the county.
Wayne Uthe moved to accept galvanized and corrugated metal pipe, and corrugated polymer pipe bids from Metal Culverts, Inc.; seconded by David Cox; motion carried.
Commissioners viewed roads in Marion Township after lunch.
Joe Hageman, representative from Sam Graves’ office, met with the commission regarding upcoming legislative issues.
