On Saturday, March 3, a 10-member team of Pattonsburg High School 7th-9th graders competed at the Junior High Science Olympiad held on the NWMSU campus in Maryville.
PHS students entered 18 of 23 possible events and earned first in eight, qualifying for state in those eight events. The team earned one-third of the total first place scores from the entire competition and tied in the first place medals count. The 10-member team accomplished this feat while facing full teams of 15. The students earned a first or second place spot in half of the events entered. Next month, students will head to Westminster College in Fulton for state competition on April 7, 2018. “These kids have worked very hard to get here and we are extremely pleased by their performance,” commented the coach, Mrs. Tuanette Hulet.
