Principal Kelly Hightree was offered a contract for the 2018-19 school year during the Feb. 19 meeting of the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education.
Nancy Andrew was hired as part-time early childhood special education (ECSE) teacher. The board approved hiring two paraprofessionals for the remainder of the school year. A substitute bus driver, Jason Lewis, was hired.
David Lainhart was sworn in as board member. No election will be needed on April 3. Three openings were available – one to finish out a two-year term and the other two were for three-year terms. Amy McMahon and Paul Caven re-filed for the three-year terms and Mr. Lainhart will finish out the two-year term.
During administrative reports, Principal Kelly Hightree reported enrollment is at 83.
FBLA students participated in District I contests online through Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville. Student Christian Malott will be going to state FBLA contest April 8, 9 and 10 in Springfield.
The county spelling bee was held on Feb. 13. Rodell Sperry was one of the top 10 finalists.
Senior Dakota Boe was honored at the Daughters of the American Revolution Tea in Gallatin.
Alumni homecoming basketball games were well attended.
The next board meeting was set for March 19, with the early start-date calendar hearing at 6 p.m.
Board members present were Jim Duly, Paul Caven, Amy McMahon, Natalie May, David Lainhart and Jason Lewis. Patty Baker was absent.
