More than 750 students from 40 chapters in Northwest Missouri traveled to Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville on Feb. 8 to compete in the District I FBLA Contest. Katie Warford will be competing at state April 8, 9, and 10 in Springfield.
Performance events were held that day and machine-graded contests had been completed at the individual schools previously. Leadership workshops and exhibits were also available for chapter members to attend.
Capt. Tim Finley, a 17-year combat-decorated U.S. Air Force veteran, delivered the keynote address about courageous leadership, endurance of character, and the value of “being comfortable with being uncomfortable.” Finley was a member of the 9-11 rescue crew and has participated in air coalitions against ISIS.
Placing from Pattonsburg were: 3rd, Intro to Information Technology, Carter Crone; 6th, Health Care Administration, Katie Warford; 8th, Cyber Security, Carter Crone; 9th, Health Care Administration, Shaila Cramer; 9th, Network Communications, Sunnie Adler; 10th Word Processing, Brittani Adams.
The group was accompanied to Maryville by FBLA Adviser Valerie Parman and high school principal, Tim Harding.
