National Honor Society students within the Gallatin High School, serving as Autism Awareness Ambassadors, are asking that local Gallatin businesses participate in raising awareness for autism and to help its residents become better educated about this developmental disorder. The NHS student ambassadors are hopeful that this awareness will lead to greater acceptance and understanding of individuals with autism and help children to be diagnosed and treated at an early age. Autism affects one in 68 children and one in 42 boys.

The City of Gallatin will be declaring April as Autism Awareness Month, and the ambassadors would like to “light up the courthouse blue.”
In addition, they invite individuals and businesses to participate as sponsors for their autism awareness t-shirt sales. If you would like to sponsor the event, there are various levels of sponsorship available. Size and placement of logos and business names will be based on sponsorship level.
T-shirts will go on sale to all students, teachers, and community members on Feb. 2 and the ambassador students will collect orders until March 2.
T-shirts will be distributed before April 1 so that they can be worn throughout the entire month. In the school district, Fridays in April will be designated as Autism Awareness Days and everyone participates by wearing their t-shirts. In addition, many individuals will choose to wear their t-shirts even more often throughout the month and continue to wear them throughout the entire year.
Proceeds from shirt sales go right back into the Autism Awareness campaign and into programs and service projects to directly benefit the community.
Please contact the Gallatin National Honor Society Autism Awareness Ambassadors if you would like to sponsor or donate to the event.
