Born on April 10, 1921, in Oshkosh, Wis, to immigrant parents James N. and Anna K. (Nielsen) from Denmark, Anne was a proud first-generation American, who survived the Great Depression, wars, and much personal heartache–including the loss of her three adult sons. Her courageous, spunky spirit and can-do, positive attitude, as well as her strong faith, sustained her through the many seasons of her life.

After high school, Anne and her mother moved to San Diego, Calif. to be near her siblings. She married James V. Gramcko in Dec. of 1941, and he was soon shipped off to war; they had a son James Tedd.

Anne later married Hollis Constance and they had two sons, Michael D. and H. Scott.

In her Golden Years (1975), Anne married Howard “Howdy” Haight and they moved to Borrego Springs, Calif., enjoying retirement and 26 years hunting for arrowheads and traveling the country in their RV. Anne loved the beauty of the desert, palm trees, and the hot sun!

In 2005, Anne moved to Gallatin be near her oldest granddaughter Theresa Hamilton and her husband Russ–she enjoyed living in her little “castle” with her beloved cats TJ & CC.

She was a member of Gallatin First Christian Church & CWF, and later Cameron FCC. Anne was always the life of the party with her fun humor and unique style. She loved music, dancing, talking, sewing, crafts, and dolls. She leaves us with these words of wisdom: “There isn’t anything so bad that something good can’t come of it.”

Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Theresa Hamilton, Michael Constance, Joel Constance, Caroline Constance, Kelley Constance, and several step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The Lighthouse Learning Center or donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
