Velma C. Miller, formally of Gallatin, Mo., passed away peacefully at Brookdale Palma Sola, Bradenton, Fla., on Dec. 11, 2017. She was 99 years of age.

Velma was born to Pearl Shephard Robertson and Edwin Allen Robertson Nov. 4, 1918, in Brimson, Mo. She was united in marriage to Raymond Lee Miller in 1939 and lived in Gallatin, Mo., her whole life until moving to Kearney, Mo., in 2008 to be near her daughter Sharon and Joe Carey. In 2013 Joe, Sharon and Velma moved to Bradenton, Fla.
Velma graduated from Chillicothe High School and Chillicothe Business College. She worked part time and was a loving wife and mother to her three daughters. She spent 40 years working part time at the Gallatin Sale Barn retiring just before she moved to Kearney in 2008. She enjoyed her work immensely and the many friends she made there. Velma also enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens and was an avid bridge player. She never passed up a chance to play bridge with her many friends that she loved so much. Velma was a member of the Gallatin Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Preston Robertson, Leonard Robertson, and Harold Robertson and her sister Florence “Imogene” Robertson Southers.
She leaves behind daughters, Linda Taylor (Marc) of Overland Park, Kan., Sharon Carey (Joe) of Bradenton, Fla., and Tammy Zimmerman (Tom) of Overland Park, Kan., two grandchildren, and two step grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service and inurnment will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery by McWilliams Family Funeral Homes in Gallatin.
