At approximately 11:16 a.m., Nov. 30, 2017, the Cameron Police Department received a call at 913 East Third Street in reference to a disturbance involving a suspect threatening to take his own life, according to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. When Cameron officers arrived at the scene, the suspect fired at them, at which time a Cameron police officer returned fire.
The suspect, Clinton Shane Lee, 39, of Cameron was fatally wounded in the shooting incident. The Clinton County Coroner is involved in the investigation and has requested that an autopsy be conducted.
The Cameron Police Department requested that the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control conduct the investigation into the officer-involved shooting. Next of kin has been notified and the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control continues to investigate.
