In other business at the City of Gallatin Nov. 27 meeting, the Gallatin Board of Aldermen approved the down payment of $12,932 for the purchase of the bucket truck that will be owned by Friends of Gallatin.

Police Chief Richards submitted a report of activity for Nov. 27. There were: 5 parking issues, 4 welfare checks, 1 structure fire, 1 intoxicated person, 1 vandalism, 3 domestic disturbances, 2 stray animals, 1 burglary, 1 custody dispute, 1 abandoned vehicle, 2 juvenile issues, and 2 dogs in the pound.

Two arrests were made over the weekend. One was for a warrant out of Chillicothe for dangerous drugs. The other was for a warrant out of Caldwell County for a traffic offense.

On Nov. 24 Gallatin police officers, along with the Gallatin Fire Protection District, responded to a house fire at 308 N. Clay in Gallatin. There were no injuries, but there was damage to the structure.

The Police Department will be installing a new sign in front of their building stating it is a “meet-up” spot. Individuals meeting to exchange internet purchases can safely meet there and utilize the police department’s live video recording system.

The Gallatin Police Department will be organizing Toys for Tots again this year. Forms are available at City Hall and Officer Richards can be contacted with any further questions.

Public Works Director Mark Morey reported that the street crew has been busy patching cracks on streets that have been re-paved in the last 10 years. The electric department digger derrick truck was decorated in lights for the Christmas Around the Square parade. Crews are still working on getting equipment prepared for winter. Discussion was held on an option to help lower the electric transmission costs.

Bills in the amount of $200,914.06 were approved for payment.

The board continued discussion on the 2018 budget.

The purchase of Utility Billing and Payroll ACH modules from Summit for a one-time cost of $2,285 was approved.

Discussion was held on the People Service Operation and Maintenance Report for October 2017.

The mayor was authorized to sign the People Service 2018 contract renewal.

December council meeting dates were scheduled for 6 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 6 p.m. on Dec. 27.

A resolution was approved appointing director and alternate director to the Missouri joint municipal electric utility commission.

A discussion was held about establishing a city website with basic information. An alderman has received several compliments on the city’s involvement in community events such as the Scare on the Square and Christmas Around the Square.

The board entered into closed session to consider legal actions, causes of action or litigation involving a public governmental body and any confidential or privileged communications between a public governmental body or its representatives and its attorneys; to consider the leasing, purchase or sale of real estate; and     to consider the hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting of particular employees.
