Linda Houghton spoke with the commissioners about having an “Angel Tree” in the courthouse with supervision from “Bright Futures”, the 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that has been recently formed in the county to benefit the community.

Pastor Garrett Trunk spoke with the commissioners about having the “Daviess County Prayer Gathering” at the flagpole on Nov. 2, and if there is inclement weather, to be able to move it to the first floor of the courthouse. The commissioners discussed with Pastor Trunk about moving the event to the First Baptist Church if court is in session or if the crowd is large.

James Lewis, road & bridge supervisor, reported that crews are continuing to work in Benton Township placing rip-rap around corrugated metal pipes and widening the roads.

Annie Gibson, prosecuting attorney, and Vicki Corwin, county clerk, submitted their annual 2017 training certificates per statutes.

David Roll, emergency management director, discussed his reimbursements and budget items for the Emergency Performance Grant.

The commissioners, treasurer/collector, county clerk, associate judge, sheriff and other individuals met with J. Eggleston, state representative, to discuss the status of having a license bureau in Daviess County.

Juan Gonzalez from Elecnor Renewables discussed wind energy in Daviess County.

The minutes were approved and bills were authorized.

Circuit Court

Cases bound over from the Associate Division of the Circuit Court are as follows: State vs. Shannon M. Wright, Oak Grove, driving while revoked/suspended, E felony; State vs. Johnny L. Blevins, St. Paul, Minn., assault-3rd degree, E felony.

Civil cases filed: Andrew Adkison, Jameson, vs. Courtney Adkison, Winston, dissolution of marriage. Certificates of lien, DOR, taxes, were filed by the State against Bradley Sheetz and Hydi Sheetz, both of Winston.

Associate Division

Defendants found guilty in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County are listed below with the offense and fine assessed. Additionally, court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $68.50 for moving traffic violations and $116.50 in most criminal cases. Judge Daren L. Adkins presided over the following cases:

Blake M. Miller, Des Moines, Iowa, possession of marijuana, $300 fine; possession of drug paraphernalia, $150 fine; James Schrock, Jamesport, animal neglect, $300 fine; Sunatilla Fatkhullaev, Key West, Fla., careless and imprudent driving, accident, $80.50 fine; Hector M. Sanchez, Chillicothe, speeding (102 in 70 zone), $250 fine, two days jail (board bill paid by defendant); Dennis A Swearingin, Pattonsburg, failed to drive on right half of road – accident, probation violation, probation revoked, sentence executed, 120 days jail; Klayton D. Shaw, Gallatin, no valid license, $150 fine; Johnathan Smiley, Trenton, driving while revoked, $300 fine.

Rock A. Dirks vs Director of Revenue, dismissed by court without prejudice.

Marriage license was issued to Jerry Lynn Lotz, St. Joseph, and Vilma Ballares Ria, St. Joseph.

Criminal cases filed: State vs. Sam L. Pak, possession of controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid, D felony, possession of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid of 11-35 grams, A misdemeanor, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, D misdemeanor. State vs. Tiffany Ann Luttrell, Jamesport, failure to register as sex offender, A or B Felony of Felony involving child under 14, D felony.

Assessor

Daviess County Assessor Sally Black will be in Benton, Salem, Jefferson, Marion, Lincoln and Grand River Townships this week and next week looking at new construction sites. The State Tax Commission requires sketches along with the measurements of homes and buildings, etc., to be in the system; therefore, per statute, while viewing new construction, the assessor’s office will also be measuring buildings if the sketches are not already in the system.
