Landowners should be wary of unsolicited letters which state intent to purchase tracts of land. The company which sends the letter lists a website and an address in Denver, Colo., and claims that they will deliver a cashier’s check in as little as three days after the price is agreed upon. The company also claims that it will pay all associated costs of completing the transaction, including back taxes, title and escrow fees.
Although there are no known instances where this has occurred in Daviess County, some of these letters have been received in other Missouri counties.
