Bernard “Gayle” Smith, 87, McFall, departed this earth on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at an Albany, Mo., hospital.

He was born July 29, 1930, the only child of Oakley and Jane (Moore) Smith.
On Sept. 27, 1982, he married Wanda Rice in Miami, Okla. She preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 2017, after 35 years.
In his spare time when his health was good, he enjoyed working on the ole ”40” Chevy pick-up he had bought, and showing his “38” Plymouth Street Rod. He traveled many places with his street rod and had a huge display of trophies to show for his winnings. When not going to street rod shows, he enjoyed going to White Cloud, Kan., with Wanda Sue to the flea markets there. He also enjoyed trap shooting, mowing his yard, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Bernard G. Smith, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Ronald Rice and Jerry Hayes; and parents-in-law, John and Brookie Rice.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice (Roger) Todd, Milo, Mo., and Misty Yurisich (John), Concordia, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Janice Smith, Waco, Texas; son-in-law, Steve Fischer, McFall, Mo.; six grandchildren, Cicily (Randy) Hoover, Concordia, Mo., Tiffany Todd, Olathe, Kan., Robbie Todd, Concordia, Mo., Shelby, Ben and Steven Fischer, McFall, Mo.; honorary granddaughter, Jessica Dennis, Olathe, Kan.; sisters-in-law, Dianna Rice-Muetzel, Cameron, Mo., and Carol Hayes, Independence, Mo.; cousin, Winifred Taylor, Beaver Dam, Ky.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Liberty Baptist Church, McFall, under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Pattonsburg, Mo. Burial will follow in McFall Cemetery, McFall, Mo. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
