The following cases were heard by Judge Thomas Chapman on Aug. 16:

Anthony Dean Davis had previously plead guilty to parental kidnapping, D felony. He had abducted his son, a Gallatin elementary student, on Dec. 4, 2016. They were both found in Brownsville, Texas, on Dec. 15, 2016. Davis was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections on this charge. He had previously been sentenced in July to two years in the Department of Corrections on a felony non-support charge by Judge Daren Adkins. The two sentences will run consecutively.

Jennifer N. Smith appeared for probation violations for two counts of felony forgery in Daviess County and two counts of forgery in a Caldwell County case. Warrants were issued with no bond allowed.

Lillie King failed to appear for a probation violation hearing on possession of controlled substance, C felony. A warrant was issued with no bond.

Probation was revoked for Gabriel T. Nichols for possession of controlled substance, C felony. His suspended imposition of sentence was revoked, and he was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections.

Probation was revoked for Jacob D. Calton for DWI, alcohol, persistent offender, D felony. His four-year sentence was ordered executed.

Trevar D. Seibert received a suspended imposition of sentence and five years probation for possession of controlled substance at jail, C felony. On two misdemeanors of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, he was fined $300 plus court costs.

Adam M. Schambow had previously plead guilty on June 14 to burglary second degree, C felony, and misdemeanor stealing. He received a suspended imposition of sentence, five years probation and 10 days shock jail time.

Dustin L. Crouse plead guilty to burglary second degree, C felony, and misdemeanor stealing. A sentence assessment report was ordered.

The suspended imposition of sentence for Christopher W. Middaugh was revoked on a misdemeanor count of non-support. He was sentenced to 90 days jail with credit for time served.

Brandon M. Feely plead guilty to possession of controlled substance, D felony, and was sentenced to four years in the Department of Corrections. He plead guilty to DWI, persistent offender, E felony, and received two years in the Department of Corrections. For misdemeanor possession of marijuana, he was sentenced to jail with credit for time served. All sentences run concurrently.

James G. Crockett plead guilty to DWI, E felony, and no valid license, A misdemeanor. A sentence assessment report was ordered.

Ross, Lathrop, DWI, chronic, C felony, speeding, B misdemeanor, failure to drive on right half of roadway, C misdemeanor; State vs. Brittany A. Karstens, Gallatin, unlawful possession of firearm, D felony, drug paraphernalia, D misdemeanor;

State vs. Jason Livick, Gallatin, abuse or neglect of child, D felony; State vs. David E. Deming, Highland, Kan., possession of controlled substance, C felony, possession of marijuana, prior drug offense, A misdemeanor, no valid license, D misdemeanor, failure to maintain financial responsibility, D misdemeanor.

Associate Division

Defendants found guilty in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County are listed below with the offense and fine assessed. Additionally, court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $68.50 for moving traffic violations and $116.50 in most criminal cases. Judge Daren L. Adkins presided over the following cases:

Vincent L. Sturgeon, Gallatin, peace disturbance, 60 days jail; domestic assault, 60 days jail; resisting arrest, 30 days jail.

Jeffrey A. Campsey, Leavenworth, Kan., speeding amended to defective equipment, $141.50; possession of drug paraphernalia, $150; no seat belt, $10.

Edward M. Miller, Albia, Iowa, minor visibly intoxicated, 30 hours of community service, $25.

Braydon Walker, Gallatin, minor in possession of liquor, suspended imposition of sentence, two years

probation, 30 hours community service; no seat belt, $10.

Justin R. Ensz, Jamesport, resisting arrest amended to misdemeanor resisting by flight, suspended imposition of sentence, two years probation; failed to yield to emergency vehicle, two days jail, board bill paid by defendant; speeding (100 mph in 55 zone), two days jail, board bill paid by defendant; failed to register vehicle, $30.50.

Nicholas A. Roberts, Gallatin, speeding (116 mph in 60 mph zone) $250, two days jail, board bill paid by defendant.

Dawson L. Davis, Altamont, possession of liquor by a minor, suspended imposition of sentence, two years probation, 30 hours community service; no seat belt, $10.

Judge Jason Kanoy presided over the following case:

Sarah M. Yutzy, Jamesport, minor visibly intoxicated, 2nd offense, 60 hours community service, $500.

Civil Court

Breach of contract: Discover Bank vs. Jesse T. Weller was dismissed by the parties.

Suits on account: Midwestern Health Management vs. Jerry W. Pierce et al was dismissed by the court without prejudice. A default judgment was entered for RP McGraw, DDS LLC: Cosmedic Dentistry, and against Chad Leeman. A consent judgment was entered for Midland Funding LLC and against DeKota Jarman.

Small claims: Kansas City Peterbilt Inc. vs. L&L Farms was dismissed by the court without prejudice.

Marriages

Judge Daren Adkins performed the following marriages on Aug. 17: Brandon Lee Fisher, 37, and Mamie Lucille Hayes, 39, both of Cameron; and Kevin Lee Baldwin, 38, and Michelle Danielle Cotte, 38, both of Cameron.

County Commission

Commissioners reviewed the Kansas Communications contract for telecommunications for the courthouse. The county clerk has sent the contract to Figg Technology to verify the details of the hosted service of the bid.

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, met with commissioners regarding repair work this week in the county. They are still hauling rip-rap for road repairs.

David Cox moved to update and revise the Accounting Policies and Internal Control Procedures for Section 2.4 and 2.5. Wayne Uthe seconded; motion carried. Commissioners reviewed and agreed on the management’s response for 2015-2016 audit.

John Joe, John Joe Insurance Agency, Inc., called and inquired about submissions for the renewal of the healthcare insurance for the county.

Commissioners viewed a Mobile311 webinar.

Sheriff Ben Becerra discussed health insurance for staff.

At noon the commissioners attended the Local Emergency Planning Commission (LEPC) meeting.
