Two area people received injuries in an accident that happened at about 7:35 a.m. on July 21 in Caldwell County.

According to the highway patrol, Richard Lemoine, 65, Kidder, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Caldwell Road at J.C. Penney Drive, about two miles northwest of Hamilton. A vehicle driven by Nikita Powell, 18, Milan, crossed over Caldwell Road and struck the rear of Mr. Lemoine’s vehicle.
Ms. Powell and an occupant in her vehicle, Justice Burton, 21, Hamilton, were transported by Caldwell County EMS to Cameron Regional Medical Center. Mr. Burton had serious injuries and Ms. Powell had moderate injuries. They were both wearing their seat belts.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. V.R. McBride, assisted by Sgt. J.H. Thompson.
