County Commission
James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, met with commissioners regarding storm damage repairs at low water crossings around the county. Using different sizes of corrugated metal pipe to replace in areas around the county was discussed in regards to townships and the county. Next week crews will be working on Key Avenue.
Re-pavement of Quick Avenue (Landmark Road) has begun this week. Commissioners discussed the repair of the area around the culverts. Concrete was brought in which has corrected the situation regarding the movement of the corrugated metal pipe and surrounding areas.
Chip Winger, Sheridan Township, discussed a road around Unity Avenue that Mike Trager is putting in. This road may need placement of three corrugated metal pipes (CMP). Chip asked if the county would consider purchasing the tubes, and Tragers would install them. These CMPs may be less than 36 inches in diameter. One placement will be at State Highway HH on the right-of-way. Commissioners said this would be MoDOT’s responsibility. Commissioners agreed that the county would not purchase any CMPs for this project unless they meet the 36” diameter requirement.
Due to the rain, the walk-through with Doug Boe for the Daviess County Nursing & Rehabilitation roofing project was postponed until 9 a.m. July 26.
Robert Mazur discussed ADA accessibility for bathrooms in the courthouse in regards to jurors and court. There was discussion regarding a second floor bathroom upgrade. Discussion also included the county purchasing ropes instead of caution tape for use during court days.
Pam McNeel, treasurer-collector, discussed the investment of maturing certificate of deposits. She will be placing $354,000 for six months, and $350,000 for six months or a year depending on the rates. This will leave $101,000 to be placed in the money market account for expenditures. Pam will be getting bids from BTC, Farmers Bank and Home Exchange Bank for these certificates of deposit.
A second signature for a safety deposit box for the public administrator was discussed. One name mentioned was the prosecuting attorney.
There was discussion on the personnel policy regarding leave of absence changes. Commissioners decided that no changes will be made to the policy.
David Cox moved to appoint Ron Minnick to the Lock Springs Special Road District to fill the commissioner’s position that was an unexpired term for Rick Page. The motion was seconded by Wayne Uthe; motion carried.
At 1 p.m. commissioners viewed a webinar on Mobile 311.
David Cox made a motion to waive $86.04 interest on parcel number 6189 for Heather Wilmes. Wayne Uthe seconded; motion carried.
