Black smoke billowed above the tree tops on the north edge of Gallatin on June 22. Gallatin Police Chief Mark Richards (who took the picture) said an old derby car, parked in the woods, caught fire. The car didn’t want to start which caused back-up into the carburetor. The Gallatin Fire Protection District sent a brush truck down and the fire was confined to the area and quickly extinguished. This was northeast off Adams Street. The property belonged to Levi Rainey.
