Sarah was born Nov. 20, 1955, the daughter of Owen and Shirley (Waterbury) Henderson in Trenton. She graduated from Gallatin High School in 1973 and attended two years at Trenton Junior College.
Sarah was united in marriage to Jim Ishmael on April 8, 1972, in Gallatin. The couple made their home on a farm east of Gallatin where she lived all of her married life. To this union two sons were born Jason and Aaron.
Sarah began her working career at the First National Bank in Gallatin, now the Farmers Bank, as a teller. She was employed at the bank and dedicated 27 years of faithful service. She enjoyed serving the customers, and taking care of their needs was always a priority.
Sarah was a member of the Jamesport Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Olive Baptist Church. Her deep faith gave her the courage to face and battle cancer for many years. She greatly enjoyed the fellowship she shared with her church family. She liked to work in the garden, tending her flowers and was an avid fan of her hummingbirds. She was always ready to go to a cattle show to support her kids and grandkids in their projects. Spending time with her grandkids was always special. Sarah’s role of wife and mother was her focus; she was the rock. Her smile would brighten up the lives of those around her and her commitment to her family and friends was apparent. To know Sarah was to love her. She will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.
Sarah was preceded in death by her father, Owen Henderson.
Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Jim Ishmael of the home; sons, Jason Ishmael and wife Sara, and Aaron Ishmael; mother, Shirley Henderson, all of Gallatin; grandchildren, Mattison, Trenton, Payton and Tye Ishmael; and step-grandson, Isaac Meyer; numerous, aunts, uncles and cousins, and a host of friends.
