The social began at 7 p.m. The memorial was given by Francie Toney and Susie Walton. Crowns were used to decorate the memory board for the former Altamont students who passed away the past year: L.L. Cook, Velma Drummond Walton, George Bassett, Shermon Phelps, and Kevin Stith.

Stars were added to the crowns as Ina McFee sang “Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown?” Conrad Walton was thanked for printing the pretty crowns. Tokey Sue Gardner was thanked for her donation of many nice door prizes she provided for everyone to choose from.

A business meeting was held. Linda Jones will again serve as president for next year. She and her sister Jewell (Brown) Pendleton keep the alumni going with happy memories of the Altamont School. Their father Edwin Brown served as the bus driver for Altamont and later for the Gallatin School.

Those attending were J.B. and Mary Wilson, Judy Wilson Taylor, Jerry Wilson, Jerome Houghton, Velma Talbott, Jerry Talbott, Conrad and Sue Walton, Jewell Pendleton, Kay Price, Jack and Francie Toney, J.L. and Ina McFee, James and Elaine Parton, Jason and Linda Jones, Tokey Sue Gardner and granddaughter, McLinley.

The alumni finished their evening with Ina McFee leading in a sing-along of the songs they sang in music classes during the late 40s and 50s, which was enjoyed. The alumni hope they can continue their banquets form many more years. In six more years, it will be their 100th!
