Memorial visitation for Sam Parker will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 19, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. No service is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Active Aging Resource Center in care of McWilliams Funeral Home.
Sam Parker, 80, Gallatin, died May 13, 2017, at his home.
Sam was born March 20, 1937, the son of Tom and Katie (Latimer) Parker in Stotts City, where he attended country school and worked on the family farm.
Sam was united in marriage to Myrna Spillman June 29, 1957, and the couple made their home in Kansas City.
He was employed at a gas station and later at Koch Refrigeration for four years before moving to California in 1964.
Sam was united in marriage to Joyce Rink March 18, 1966, in Downey, Calif.; she preceded him in death in 1999.
Sam began working at Putlzmeister Corp. as a foreman where they built hydraulic cement pump trucks. Sam retired in 1999 after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
After retirement he moved to Nebraska with his friend Patty Alexander for a year before moving to Gallatin to be near his family.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Raymond, Jesse, Wilbert, Gilbert Bert, sisters, Mary and Alta and infant sister, Tiny.
Survivors include his daughters, Diana Parker, South Carolina, and Brenda Parker, Pompano, Fla.; step-daughter, Cindy Mill, California; brothers, Bill (Mary) Parker, Jack (Margaret) Parker, both of Gallatin, and John (Launa) Parker, Kansas City; sisters, Wilma (Martin) Royster, Westminster, Calif., and Ellen (Chuck) Ault, Independence; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
