Gallatin resident and local farmer, Annette Brown, nominated the Green Hills Women’s Shelter for the 2017 America’s Farmers Grow Communities Grant. The program was awarded a grant in the amount of $2,500. The Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Program, known as Green Hills Women’s Shelters, includes two shelter facilities; one located in Trenton (Grundy County), which opened in November of 1996; and one located in Cameron (Clinton-DeKalb County), which opened in December of 2009. The two shelter facilities operate 24 hours per day, year-round, to provide safe shelter, crisis intervention, court-related advocacy, case management, counseling and other comprehensive services to domestic violence/sexual assault victims.
