Many Christians are unaware that they live in a nation that has a law in place requiring our President proclaim a National Day of Prayer each year on the first Thursday in May.
This year in Gallatin, a special service is planned at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, at the First Baptist Church, in observance of the National Day of Prayer. The service is supported by the Gallatin Ministerial Alliance and will take place in lieu of the usual brief gathering which in the past had convened at the courthouse.
Community churches, leaders and the mayor of Gallatin welcome you to attend this service to pray for local, city, county, state, national and world leaders. It is expected that this service will likely be rotated from church to church in future years.
Believers in Christ Jesus not only have a spiritual responsibility, but a civic duty as well to heed the President’s call to stand in the gap for our nation. Christians may look forward to seeing His hand move across the United States in exciting ways in response to their petitions!
This year’s theme of the National Day of Prayer is For Your Great Name’s Sake! Hear Us… Forgive Us…Heal Us! …from Daniel 9:19, which says, “O Lord, Listen! O Lord, Forgive! O Lord, Hear and Act! For Your Sake, O My God.”
