Gallatin Fire District puts out fire at Gallatin Car Wash.
On April 20 at approximately 4:07 p.m. Gallatin Fire was dispatched to 701 South Main in Gallatin at the Superior Auto Wash for a reported car fire. Daviess Central 911 Dispatch advised the fire department that there were two vehicles involved inside the car wash bay and the reporting party said he was attempting to jump start the car. Engine 101 and Brush 104 responded with six firefighters.
Upon arrival on scene the fire department found a pickup truck partially in a car wash bay with fire showing in the engine area and black smoke filling the bays. A 1 3/4-inch hose line was deployed for extinguishment. Fire was found in the engine compartment of both vehicles and quickly extinguished using approximately 200 gallons of water.
The fire was contained to the engine compartments of both vehicles. The 2015 Chevy 4×4 pickup suffered major fire damage and the 2009 Mitsubishi had minor fire damage. The car wash had heat and smoke damage to the metal ceiling and an overhead rollup door. The cause was found to be jumper cables heating up and catching fire. No injuries were reported.
On Friday, April 21, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Gallatin Fire District was dispatched to 507 North Daviess for a report of smoke in the residence. Engine 101 responded and arrived on scene to find a haze of smoke inside the home. With the use of the thermal imaging camera the source was found coming from a microwave. The microwave was removed from the home and the smoke was ventilated out. No other damage was found inside.
On Sunday, April 23, at approximately 1:41 p.m., Gallatin Fire District was dispatched to mutual aid with Kidder-Altamont-Winstin (KAW) Fire District for a building fire at 19957 Hwy 6. Engine 101, Brush 104 & Tanker 103 responded. Gallatin Fire District arrived on scene and assisted KAW firefighters with exposure protection on a 20’x30’ metal outbuilding. A larger metal outbuilding was fully engulfed in flames and partially collapsed. A tanker shuttle with a portable tank and pumping relay operation was setup. Gallatin crews also assisted with extinguishing and overhauling operations on the larger outbuilding. Gallatin Fire was released from the scene at approximately 3:28 p.m.
On Sunday, April 23, at approximately 8:06 p.m., Gallatin Fire District was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with fuel leaking on 239th Street south of Gallatin Truck & Tractor. Engine 101 and Rescue 107 responded. Firefighters arrived and found a Ford Ranger pickup had rolled onto its side and had a small fuel leak coming from the tank area. No injuries were reported. Missouri State Highway Patrol arrived on scene for traffic accident investigation. The vehicle was up-righted onto its wheels and all hazards mitigated.
