Despite rain and gloomy weather conditions, Gallatin track athletes were able to start the season on schedule with three meets in the span of four days.

Topping the list of place finishers for the Bulldogs was Tanner Johnson, who immediately found the winning formula in the pole vault at the March 28 North Platte Invitational. Johnson, who qualified for last year’s state meet in Jefferson City, also vaulted 12’6” last Friday with a winning performance at the Smithville Relays. His best height from a year ago is 13’.
Points and high place finishes were hard to come by for the Bulldog girls and boys as they squared off against larger schools at Smithville. Gallatin’s only other top ten individual finishes came from Ayden Wayne, 7th in the 3200-meter run; Maelea Coulson, 9th in the javelin throw; and the girls 4x800m relay, 9th.
