Theodore Johnson, Lake Viking, will hold a free copyrighted power point presentation on how to write and publish from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 22 at the LDS Church, located off Highway 6, west of Gallatin. Mr. Johnson taught free lessons on writing at the county library last year. Those 12 lessons will be compiled into the one presentation.

You may walk in and sit down for the course. Mr. Johnson said the lessons will cover everything from grammar to writer’s block to writing your own personal story.

Mr. Johnson did his master’s work in creative writing at Southwest Missouri State University (SMSU), where he taught freshman English as a graduate assistant.

“I didn’t want to bore my students by having them write a term paper,” he said. “Instead I created a syllabus of 12 lessons on how to publish novels, screen plays, stage plays, how to edit, etc. SMSU liked it and asked me to teach evening classes.”

He uses that same syllabus to build his lesson plans.

Mr. Johnson has also started a creative writer’s guild in Gallatin. If you’d like to join the guild, call him at 816-646- 8566 or email him at [email protected].
