First up, Rep. J Eggleston will be at Access II at 101 Industrial Parkway in Gallatin at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22. Access II will discuss disability issues and proposed cuts to the state budget with Rep. Eggleson. They will also take him on a tour of the office building and explain the services Access II provides and how those services benefit the community. The community is invited to visit with Rep. Eggleston about their questions or concerns.

Access II will hold a free Kids Fishing Derby at Dockery Park pond from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on April 22, for grades birth to 16. The Missouri Department of Conservation will be on hand and will provide fishing poles and tackle, or you may bring your own.

The Gallatin Men’s Club will cook hot dogs while supplies last.

Prizes will be awarded. The prizes are donated by the community. If you would like to donate fishing related equipment for prizes, contact Access II at 660-663-2423. The donations are tax deductible.

Parent or guardian must accompany children during the event.

A 5K run is set for Saturday, June 3. Runners will be invited to dress up in their favorite decade attire for the Decade Dash. The event starts on the Gallatin square. Proceeds go toward the annual Back to School Bash (held in August) to pay for free school supplies for area students.

A Bass Fishing Tournament fundraiser will be held on June 10 at Harrison County Lake with proceeds going to both Access II and a cash prize for the winner. June 10 is Missouri Department of Conservation’s free fishing day.

Boats begin loading at 7 a.m. Fishing begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Weigh-ins will immediately follow.

There will a $25 entry fee (or $50 for two-man team).

First place will take home 50% of the proceeds.

A side entry for crappie will have a $15 entry fee.

The rest of the funds will further the mission of Access II, which is to benefit people with disabilities in our community in order for them to live independent lives by assisting them with employment, care, equipment and resources.

More information and contest rules for these events will be on the Access II website.
