Gallatin FBLA sponsors the Backpack Buddies program which delivers 67 backpacks every Friday to elementary, middle and high school students.
Over 50% of the children in the Gallatin School District qualify for free or reduced meals. When school is not in session, many of those children go without a nutritious meal.
The Backpack Buddies program provides nutritious food to these children each weekend until the end of the school year. A backpack filled with a healthy breakfast, lunch and snack is prepared each Friday by the FBLA students.
Second Harvest Community Food Bank out of St. Joseph partners with area schools to help administer this program.
For $150 you can sponsor a child for an entire school year. Or choose the level of commitment that best fits your budget. Individuals, clubs, churches, businesses are encouraged to sponsor. All donations are held in a special account for specific use in the Backpack Buddy Program.

Winston holds quarter auction
Winston School will be holding a vendor fundraiser/quarter auction to support its Backpack Buddies program. The event will be held at the Winston School gymnasium, 200 West 3rd Street, on Saturday, April 8. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the auction will start at 2 p.m. Early Bird Shopping with vendors will be held from 1 to 2 p.m.
