County Commission
David Linville discussed 210th Street in Sheridan Township with commissioners.
This week road and bridge crews worked on corrugated metal pipe on 185th and Ember in Benton Township. Crews will be replacing boards on a bridge on 185th Street in Sheridan Township.
David Allen discussed brush, culverts and roads in Sheridan Township.
Commissioners reviewed site location for materials at Daviess County Rehabilitation & Nursing for the roofing project.
David Roll discussed the contract with the County for Emergency Management Services. Wayne Uthe moved to accept the contract with David Roll and the County for Emergency Management Services. Motion was seconded by David Cox. Roll call vote: Cox – yea; Uthe – yea; motion carried.
Commissioners attended the LEPC meeting at noon.
Jackie Soptic, Green Hills Regional Planning Commission, discussed the agency role as it pertains to Daviess County.
Buddy Weller, Deputy Sheriff Robert Mazur, and commissioners discussed security systems for the courthouse offices and building. The meeting adjourned at 3:40 p.m.
These are the unapproved minutes of Feb. 22, 2017. Wayne Uthe, second district commissioner, called the meeting to order. David Cox, first district commissioner, was present. Randy Sims, presiding commissioner, was absent. Minutes were approved and bills were authorized.
Circuit Court
In a hearing before Judge Jason Kanoy on Feb. 24, Myrick W. Denhartog waived his right to a jury trial and the case was continued to March 30 for a bench trial. The court then witnessed the defendant violating conditions of his bond by having contact with the victim. The previously posted bond was revoked, and a new warrant was issued, with bond set at $75,000 cash only. Denhartog is incarcerated at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail. He is charged with two misdemeanor counts of domestic assault.
Cases bound over from the Associate Division: State vs. Fabian W. Lincoln, Orlando, Fla., DWI, habitual, B felony; no valid license, D misdemeanor; failure to register vehicle, B misdemeanor; failure to drive on right half of road, C misdemeanor; failure to maintain financial responsibility, D misdemeanor; failure to place vehicle as near right had side of highway as practicable, C misdemeanor.
Civil cases filed: Department of Revenue Collections Enforcement vs. Barney R. Esbeck and Robin L. Esbeck, Gallatin, certificate of lien, DOR, taxes.
