Discussion was held regarding the cost adjustment increase due to the new prevailing wage schedule for the water plant during the meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Feb. 13. The city is expecting a $14,500 increase to the total cost of the water plant. The city will be responsible for the cost increase.

Administrator Tony Stonecypher gave an update on public works. Ross Construction has cleared the brush from the water plant site and is currently digging out the backwash basins. The contractor has removed a lot of rock. However, the amount of rock is what the contractor expected.
The street crew completed shoulder work on West Grand and have been trying to keep up with pot holes.
The mayor was authorized to sign the approved Change Order No. 2 with Ross Construction for the wage increase for the construction of the water plant.
Judy Bush is seeking the position of East Ward Alderman in the April election. During public comment, she stated a few concerns she has with the decisions that have been made concerning the water plant.
Police Chief Mark Richards submitted a report on activity from Feb. 1-13 with the following reports taken and tickets given: 1-Suspicious Person, Circumstance; 3-Assault; 3-Burglary; 1-Theft, Gun; 1-Fraud; 1-Animal Problem; 1-Drug/Narcotic Paraphernalia; 1-Theft; 1-Theft, Shoplifting; 1-Animal Cruelty; 1-Attempted Theft; 2-Welfare Check; 1-Lost Property;
1-Civil Standby; 1-Attempted Suicide; 1-Theft, Vehicle. Codes: West Corrine: Updated address for owner; South Water: Burnt house, found new phone number and address for owner, owner contacted; Brick house on North Maple: contacted attorney of owner, paperwork is in process. There are four dogs in the pound.
Chief Richards discussed the MIRMA policy requirements for the Police Department and provided a Law Enforcement Policy and Procedure Manual table of contents for the board.
The January transaction report was approved.
Bills in the amount of $195,797.85 were approved for payment.
The cupola building was discussed during old business. Administrator Stonecypher stated the first priority will be the roof and then an engineering evaluation. The board requested Stonecypher reach out to the previous cupola committee members for their interest in serving as the new subcommittee under the Friends of Gallatin 501(c)(3) organization.
The board reviewed the January 2017 Financial Review.
The board entered into closed session pursuant to consider legal actions, causes of action or litigation involving a public governmental body and any confidential or privileged communications between a public governmental body or its representatives and its attorneys; to consider the leasing, purchase or sale of real estate; and to consider the hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting of particular employees.
