Friends in Christ Church of Gallatin continues to participate in a program called “Be Rich.” Annually, church members kick off their efforts in November to intentionally be extraordinarily generous. Instead of forming yet another service project, Friends in Christ Church strives to help organizations that are already serving to serve even better,

The Be Rich incentive is based on the scripture from 1 Timothy 6:17-18 (NIV):

“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.”

The scripture commands us to “Be Rich” in good deeds and to be generous.

This year one of the choices Friends in Christ made was to provide a gift to emergency services, which is available to all members of the community.

The Daviess County Community Ambulance Service shared a wish for two pieces of equipment for the backup ambulance, which the primary ambulance already has available — a pediatric bag and an EZ IO Drill. The total cost for these items was $500. Friends in Christ Church provided a check for $500 to purchase the two pieces of equipment for the ambulance.

The 911 office has a coffee maker that uses K-cup pods. The 911 dispatchers, members of the highway patrol and sheriff’s departments have to provide their own coffee. Friends in Christ also gifted the 911 office with three boxes of 100 K-cups and some Christmas treats.
