Gallatin’s Public Works Director Mark Morey reported to the city’s Board of Aldermen during their Dec. 12 meeting that the utility department has been busy getting trucks ready for winter. The new snow plow has been installed on the 2007 Chevy.

Street crews are nearing completion on the two drainage boxes on the square.

The water department had to fix a large water leak at the country club.

Mr. Morey led a conversation regarding selling the pavement layer and purchasing a 10-foot aggregate chip spreader that hooks onto a dump truck. Morey will collect bids for the board to review.

People Service will be hiring a new sewer plant operator for the Gallatin sewer plant.

Police Chief Mark Richards submitted a report on activity from Nov. 28 to Dec. 12 with the following reports taken and tickets given: 1 – Prowler; 1 – Miscellaneous; 1 – Medical Emergency; 2 – Information Report; 1 – Abandoned Vehicle; 1 – Animal Control; 2 – 210.220 Peace Disturbance; 1 – Domestic Disturbance; 1 – Missing Person; 1 – Theft. There are two dogs in the pound.

The Police Department is still investigating the case of a missing seven-year-old boy named Seth Davis. The case has now been upgraded to an endangered person. The Gallatin Police Department has posted information regarding the endangered person and requested the board to share the information on social media.

The November transaction report was approved.

Bills in the amount of $181,226.02 were approved for payment.

The board reviewed the 2017 budget in all departments which included changes discussed at the November 28 board meeting.

The board reviewed the November 2016 Financial Review.

Employee expense reimbursement discussion was tabled for the next meeting.

Eichler’s Tax Service completed a review of the City’s October bank statements and other month-end financial reports. The board reviewed the October review report from Eichler’s.

City Administrator Tony Stonecypher has cleaned the map room upstairs at City Hall and utilized the new map cabinet purchased from state surplus.

Mayor Barb Ballew discussed moving the next board meeting due to the observed holiday. The board agreed to move the next board meeting to Tuesday, Dec. 27.

Closed session was held to consider legal actions, causes of action or litigation involving a public governmental body and any confidential or privileged communications between a public governmental body or its representatives and its attorneys; to consider the leasing, purchase or sale of real estate; and to consider the hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting of particular employees.
