Gallatin’s recently completed 5-2 Grand River Conference football campaign paid off with 13 spots on the 2016 GRC East All-Conference Football Team.
The Bulldogs came away from the coaches’ selection meeting with five first positions.
Cole McBee made the first team offense in a position designated as “athlete.” Michael McLey was one of five first team picks on the defensive line. Wyatt Bird made first team at linebacker and Chad Walker was picked on the first team secondary list. First-year kicker Adrian Hernandez was the coaches’ pick for first team.
Bird (RB) and McBee (LB) were also second team all-conference picks. Walker was named to the second team as a return specialist.
Graydee Rains found spots on both second team offensive and defensive teams, on the offensive line and at defensive end. Colin Beck was named second team punter.
Making the honorable mention list was Caleb Boyd at wide receiver and defensive back.
Following are available stats for Bulldog honorees:
Cole McBee, QB/LB: 32 of 73 for 534 yards and 4 TDs; 118 carries for 525 yards and 10 TDs; 10 receptions for 187 yards and 1 TD; 115 tackles, 7 for loss, 1 interception.
Wyatt Bird, RB/LB: 159 carries for 976 yards and 11 TDs; 6 receptions for 84 yards and 1 TD; 109 tackles, 12 for loss, 1 QB sack, 3 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries, 1 blocked field goal.
Chad Walker, DB/PR: 29 tackles, 4 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, 590 return yards. 3 total TDs.
Michael McLey, DL: 43 tackles, 3 for loss, 1 fumble recovery.
Adrian Hernandez, K: 33 extra points.
Graydee Rains, OL/DE: 74 tackles, 13 for loss, 4 fumble recoveries, 5.5 QB sacks.
Colin Beck, P: 34 punts for a 35.2 average, 10 inside opposition’s 20-yd. line.
Caleb Boyd, WR/DB: 10 receptions for 187 yards and 1 TD, 49 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 interception.
