On Oct. 29, Gallatin FFA and FCCLA came together to sponsor the annual barnwarming dance at the Gallatin High School ag shop. Juniors Colin Beck and Hayley Michael (top) were chosen as king and queen. Other candidates were seniors Tatum Griffin-Granville and Ethan Johnston (third row), sophomores Tayton Terry and Essie Williamson (second row), and freshmen Madalyn Shubert and Drayton Harris (bottom row). Around 100 members square danced, line danced, enjoyed apple cider chugging, apple bobbing, and participated in a donut eating contest. A bonfire was held by the ag shop before the dance began. The band was Saturation Point.

Sadly, something was really different at this year’s barnwarming. J.R. Bird had been the caller at Gallatin Barnwarming dances for the past 64 years, from 1951 to 2015, but he passed away in February. His daughter, Sharon Lockridge, carried the family tradition forward and served as the caller this year.
