Gallatin R-5 school officials focused on finances during a work session convened by the R-5 Board of Education on Oct. 13. Participating in discussions was Bruce Johnson of L.J. Hart & Company, a consulting firm that helps clients focus on long-term finance structuring.

Other normal business was transacted during the Oct. 13 meeting. Administrative reports were presented by Supt. Dr. Bryan Copple, High School Principal Brent Burke, Middle School Principal Tiffany Otto, and Elementary School Principal Toni Cox. Bills were approved and paid.
The board approved a request from the R-5 Student Council to sell beef sticks as a fundraiser.
Becky Adkison gave her vocational and FCCLA report. Barb Holcomb gave her vocational and FBLA report. Mr. Gann presented a Summer Journey report.
The board entered closed session to discuss personnel. Kayli Johnson was offered the Junior High Boys Track Coach position for 2016-17 school year.
Board members attending the Oct. 13 meeting were Jesse Bird, Tim Bradford, Trent Dowell, Bill Irby, Jeffrey Donovan, and Amy Heldenbrand.
Also in attendance were Dr. Copple and Principals Burke, Otto, Cox, and Board Secretary Lynda Swopes. Guests were Barron Gann, Barb Holcomb, Becky Adkison, Abbey Wilson, Tina Herring, Brittney Ghidoni, and Kim Johnson.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Gallatin R-5 Board of Education will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17.
