Kickin’ Cancer with Kindness Committee will again be raising funds from free-will donations during a Kickin’ Cancer with Kindness event. Money raised will be used for the purchase of gas cards for patients who travel to treatment.
Daviess County BBQ fundraiser block party will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, on Market Street, between the Gallatin Methodist Church and the lumber yard.
Bring your family and enjoy a pork BBQ sandwich dinner with baked beans, slaw, dessert and drink, along with entertainment. Carry-out will be available. Many churches, clubs, businesses and individuals have joined together to provide the food for this event, allowing all proceeds to go toward the gas cards.
The meal and entertainment are free; however a free-will donation will be accepted. Those wishing to donate toward this worthy cause by check, should make checks out to Kickin’ Cancer with Kindness.
A silent auction will be held with over 35 baskets already donated. Bidding will stop at 6:30 p.m.
Farmers Bank and BTC Bank in Gallatin and Home Exchange Bank in Jamesport have volunteered to continue to distribute the gas cards for the committee. All cards will be for $25. Cancer patients going to treatment may obtain a card from the bank lobby or drive-up window.
Last year’s monetary donations from individuals, businesses and churches totaled $5,200 and the silent auction raised $900.
Currently $6,750 worth of gas cards has been given away to cancer patients, and there are still some cards available at BTC Bank and Farmer’s Bank in Gallatin.
In case of inclement weather the event will be held downstairs in the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
