Libby Wilson and Team Alex were back this year with Alex’s Lemonade Stand during Chautauqua weekend, Saturday, Sept. 17, and raised over $500. All money raised goes to benefit childhood cancer research. Daviess County residents have raised over $5,000 for this cause since the project started in 2007.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a unique foundation that evolved from a young cancer patient’s front yard lemonade stand to a nationwide fund raising movement to find a cure for childhood cancer. Alex Scott (1996-2004) set up her front yard stand at the age of four to fulfill her dream of finding a cure for all children with cancer.
Libby is the daughter of Jason and Abbey Wilson. On March 1, 2005, at the age of 16 months, Libby was diagnosed with stage 1 neuroblastoma. After a total resection of her tumor and six months of chemotherapy, Libby is now a healthy, happy 12-year-old girl.
