Gallatin man assaults policeman in early morning hours

On Sept. 18, Gallatin Police Officer Jeffrey L. Johnson responded to a call at a Gallatin residence at approximately 4:51 a.m.

Dustin Carpenter, 28, Gallatin, is accused of assaulting a female victim at the residence by biting her cheek, according to the probable cause statement. Carpenter also struck Officer Johnson on his jaw. Officer Johnson then retreated from the house to call for assistance. When Johnson re-entered the house, Carpenter struck him on his head, causing Johnson to fall backwards from stairs onto a concrete floor.

At 3:50 p.m., charges were filed on Carpenter for class C felony assault of law enforcement officer, class A misdemeanor domestic assault and misdemeanor resisting arrest. Carpenter is in custody at DDCRJ on $45,000 cash bond.

3:30 pm – New charges were filed on Myrick Denhartog, 69, Jamesport, for misdemeanor violation of order of protection. Denhartog is already in custody at DDCRJ for violation of bond conditions. Bond for the new charge is $1,000.

4:20 pm – Cows out on Highway 13 south of Gallatin near Upland Avenue.

8:55 am – Sheriff, deputy and K-9 Alan out at Tri-County School in Jamesport.

9 am – Court in session.

9:28 am – Cass County advising James D. Whitt, 20, Trenton, is ready for pick up on Daviess County warrant for probation violation on original charge of burglary/stealing. Whitt will be transferred to DDCRJ with no bond.

10:25 am – Out with C&I driver on Highway 6 west of Gallatin.

12 pm – Levi Richardson, 35, Trails, Ore., was arrested on a FTA warrant on original charges of felony possession of controlled substance. Richardson posted 10% of a $25,000 cash bond and was released.

4:11 pm – Report of bus vs. trash truck minor accident north of Winston. No injuries.

5:22 pm – Jason Jameson, 40, Breckenridge, posted a $500 cash bond on a Daviess County warrant for FTA on probation violation hearing on original charges of littering.

8:08 am – Caller advising of debris blocking passing lane I-35 southbound @83mm.

11:46 am – Sheriff in Jamesport.

8:59 am – Report of semi blocking both lanes of Highway 6 off I-35 at the 64mm.

10:43 am – Assisting with medical call at Lake Viking.

1:31 pm – Report of suspicious persons and vehicle behind business in Jamesport.

4:25 pm – New charges were filed on John Moreno, 30, Gallatin, for class C felony domestic assault.  Moreno is already in custody at DDCRJ for failing to register as sex offender. Bond on the assault charge is set at $35,000.

4:58 pm – Report of cow out on Highway CC.

6:55 pm – Gallatin PD arrested Dustin Teel, 31, Gallatin, on a Daviess County warrant for class C felony assault and misdemeanor property damage. The warrant was a result of an incident that occurred at an apartment in Gallatin on Aug. 30, 2016. According to the probable cause report, Teel allegedly got into an argument in the yard with a 53-year-old male and threw a black butane torch at him. The torch hit the victim’s knuckle and caused a bone fracture. Teel is also accused of breaking a window at the apartment. Teel was transferred to DDCRJ on $35,000 bond.

10:04 pm – Sheriff’s Office arrested Jacob Hartness, 22, Claremore, Okla., for DWI-drug intoxication, and drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Hartness was transported to DDCRJ on $1,000 bond.

10:11 am – Winston Pit Stop reporting gas drive off. Vehicle went west on Highway 69.

11 am – Complaint of suspicious vehicle in Jamesport.

7:58 pm – Car vs. deer on Highway 6 east of Altamont.

11:09 pm – Report of someone shooting a gun within the city limits of Winston.

12:02 am – Out with subjects involved in verbal disagreement on Highway 6 west of Highway 13.

12:06 am – Report of suspicious activity involving two vehicles on gravel road off of Highway 6 west of Jamesport.

12:31 am – Subject under arrest from above disagreement on Highway 6. Bradley Simpson, 20, Trenton, was arrested on St Joe PD warrant for FTA on original charges of stealing. Simpson could not post the $500 bond and was transferred to DDCRJ for St. Joe.

3:50 pm – Daviess County charges were filed on Dustin R. Carpenter, 28, Gallatin, for class C felony assault of law enforcement officer, class A misdemeanor domestic assault and misdemeanor resisting arrest. The warrant follows from an arrest made by Gallatin Police Department earlier in the day. Carpenter is in custody at DDCRJ on $45,000 cash bond.

4:19 pm – Assisting with medical call north of Winston.

9 am – Jury Trial.

4:38 pm – Platte County advising Brent Michael Harris, 41, Kansas City, is ready for pickup on a Daviess County warrant for probation violation on original charge of non-Support, felony D.  Harris was transferred to the DDCRJ.  Bond is set at $36,000.

8:04 pm – C&I driver westbound 6 Highway.

8:43 pm – Report of lightning strike southeast of Jamesport.

9:56 pm – Sheriff’s Office out with MSHP.
